.Name
domain is restricted to individuals
Registration procedure yet to be made public by the Global
Name Registry.
A specific proposal for protection of established trademarks
is still being discussed. Since this gTLD is restricted to
individuals, there should be minimal corporate trademark concerns.
However, corporations may have the right to “defensively register
" their trademarks, taking them out of circulation for a minimum
of ten years. This would prevent the registration of (for
example) “microsoft.smith.name."
Each successful .name registration includes:
Your own unique Web address (e.g. http://john.smith.name)
Your own personal e-mail address (e.g. john@smith.name)
